I recently collected my car and I can't praise the staff of Wool & Bovington accident repair shop enough. Stephanie in particular was helpful and professional throughout, nothing was too much trouble. The repair was faultless, the car was spotless on collection and they support their work with a guarantee. Highly recommended.

This garage was selected as an ‘approved repairer’ by the Motor Repair Network. The garage initially placed an estimate for work, seemingly without even doing a vehicle inspection (given they didn’t even pick up on the fact that the wheel didn’t steer - something documented by my insurer when I called to verbally communicate the damage that I knew about, when reporting the claim). If indeed they did do an vehicle check, I’m unsure how they managed to do so without picking up on the damage. When the repairer then checked the car, they submitted an estimate for repairs that included a huge amount of work to the suspension unit, replacing. When I challenged this (the bump wasn’t huge and I had asked an independent specialist the likely damage from such a bump based on accident photos and descriptions), the track control unit was likely broken and then just cosmetics. The mechanic told me that the car would likely be a total loss and they wouldn’t ‘risk’ doing anything less than the quoted work because of the potential for further damage. When I sounded surprised, the mechanic told me that you could clearly see that the wheels are pointing in two different directions, as though this makes his case obvious. (1) If this really was so obvious, why was it not picked up on the first estimate they submitted. (2) All it takes is for one of the wheels to be out of line and both wheels will automatically be pointing in the wrong direction, this isn’t difficult science, it’s simple geometry. You are supposed to quote on a full assessment and work that needs doing based on proof of breakage, not your opinion of what else could be broken. I asked for my insurance company to remove the vehicle from this garage and take it to my nominates repair centre to have it properly assessed. My assigned garage since found that the car did not need the extensive work that was quoted for and could be very easily and safely returned to the road (this was not a back street garage, my alternative garage is a specialist repair centre for Jaguar). My impression of this garage is that they want the most basic jobs that will take very few of their weekly hours up and anything else. Though, my experience is purely from my own vehicle and time dealing with them and it is entirely possible that they have satisfactory jobs behind them, this would account for some of the more positive reviews on there - I just wish that I could have been one of them. Literally my only ask was my car fixing and returning, given the independent assessment that was done at a later date, this was not such a big ask.
